(Kranenburg/Kleve/Klichev, May 2020). Hello from Klichev!
There is not a single district in Belarus where the Great Patriotic war did not leave its mark. People fought at the front, worked in the rear, resisted the enemy from underground. On the territory of the klichevsky district, the largest partisan movement in the country unfolded. In October 1941, the creation of the Klichev partisan zone was started in the Mogilev Region. The partisans defeated a number of fascist garrisons and liberated several localities. Until the spring of 1942, partisan detachments were completely liberated from the enemy klichevsky and partially of Berezino, Kirovsk, Mogilev, Bobruisk, Osipovichi districts. There was a vast territory of the Klichev partisan zone with a population of about 120 thousand people, with the center in Usakino village.
In August 1942, the Belarusian partisans of Klichev district waged fierce battles, the fascists blocked the partisan region and intended to defeat the detachments of the people's Avengers. But the punitive operation "Adler" choked, and the enraged Nazis in impotent anger staged a terror against civilians. The executioners began to destroy the village along with the residents, among them was Vasen' and Selets. 140 people - women, children, old people – were driven by the fascists and their accomplices to a hole in the field and shot. The houses were looted and burned by Oscar Dirlewanger's battalion. The one whose executioners will destroy Khatyn on March 22, 1943. A monument to the "Split house" is part of Usakino memorial complex of partisan glory.
In memory of these events, the memorial complex of partisan glory "Usakino" was created, which was opened in 1985. There are 18 mass graves, where about 400 partisans from all over of Klichev district are buried. One of the components of the memorial complex is the reconstructed partisan village.
Last week, many commemorative events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the great Victory were held here.
